Leonor Alejandra González Nava

Leonor Alejandra González Nava is a social anthropologist and intercultural manager who earned her degree, master's in Anthropology, and Ph.D., all with honors, from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the latter with the dissertation "By the Light of Fireflies: Socio-environmental Entanglements in Tlahuapan, Puebla." Her work engages political ecology and rural studies, focusing on the socio-environmental entanglements among communities, species, and neoliberal conservation, as well as on critical heritage studies. She has taken part in research projects in the Puebla-Tlaxcala Valley region, in central Mexico.

She joined the team in 2022. As the leader of EMIGRA’s Community Conservation Fellows Program since 2024, she mentors early-career researchers across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With eleven years of teaching experience, she is a lecturer at UNAM's Facultad de Filosofía y Letras and Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, where she also serves as Academic Secretary of the Center for Anthropological Studies.
